If you have played Mobius Online back in the day, you would probably enjoy playing MU Origin, which is either a spin-off of the original MU or just an RPG with similar elements. Regardless, it possesses nearly all of the elements of the old Diablo-inspired MMORPG dungeon-crawler. The visuals are stunning, and progression is quite easy, thanks to the automatic battle and travel options which make everything a bit convenient. Moving forward, is MU Origin a game you would be playing in this day and age where mobile MMORPGs are thrown around like hotcakes?
To start off, MU Origin plays like your regular, run-of-the-mill MMORPG. The user interface, visuals, and control schemes are similar to other games, which is great since familiarity is a good thing. Moving your character is done by sliding your finger in various directions on a control stick on the bottom left corner of the screen. Meanwhile, attacking and using skills are done through tapping the buttons on the lower right. Character information and your health bars are on the upper left side of the screen, and tapping the area gives you a comprehensive look of your character’s stats. The interface is intuitive, and on a small Android phone, doesn’t look crowded, giving you more room to appreciate the environment, visual effects, and make it easy for you to play the game.
There are three character classes you can select on MU Origin, which are the Dark Knight, Dark Wizard, and the Elf class. Though not exactly the same, they have a number of similarities with the original MU Online. In basic terms, the Dark Knight is your melee class, specializing in close-range combat and high in both attack power and defense. Meanwhile, the Dark Wizard is the mage class, proficient in casting and firing off powerful spells. Finally, the Elf class is armed with bows, and is the best class in dealing damage from afar. Later on in the game, you can unlock higher tiers of your character when you reach a certain level.
You can easily get into the game’s various game modes and take part in action-packed battles, both against players and AI-controlled monsters. There are three types of dungeons which are Story Dungeons, Party Dungeons, and the Endless Tower. Remember though, the developers put a cap on how many times a day you can enter the dungeons.
Like the old MU game, MU Origins uses an automatic battle system wherein you can leave your character automatically attacking monsters around it while you take a shower. Traveling is easier, thanks to a seamless mechanic which lets you traverse through maps with just a couple of taps. Moreover, you can also grab quests which range from your typical monster kill quests to fetch quests.
So, is MU Origin a game you should be playing? MU Online players will certainly love the game, considering that it dishes out the same experience the old PC game gives. Casual players may equally like it, thanks to its decent visuals, automated systems, clear progression, and painless grind. There are a lot of things you can do in the game, making it something you can play for countless hours.
